I really have had this postcard since the 90’s. What a juxtaposition, Camille’s femininity and the little samurai, not to mention the weight of the garment.
Random thing I love about New York: it is totally reasonable to carry a Japanese fan with you during the summer, and to whip it out while you’re waiting for the train. To be clear, I vehemently do not like the heat that makes this necessary, but it pleases me to look down the platform while I’m fanning myself to discover others doing the same. This reminds me, I need a better protective case… using a rubber band means that my purse chews up folding fans rather quickly.
